A NOTE TO PARENTS:
Please DO NOT complete these steps for your student!

It is very important that the each new SSU Student complete the steps below to set up their accounts themselves. You will use these tools daily while at SSU and completing this set-up process yourself will help you become familiar with your tools and their use from the very start. This set-up process will take a few minutes so please complete this when you are in a place where you can truly focus on what you are doing. Please read everything on this webpage very carefully and be sure you create passwords you can remember.

If you have any questions while activating your accounts, please contact ITS by completing an IT Support Form and a member of our team will contact you to provide assistance.

What you need to get started:

When you were accepted to Shawnee State University, you were assigned a Student ID Number. You will need this ID Number to proceed. Your Student ID Number should be referenced on most of the information you have received from SSU from the time you were accepted as an SSU Student.

If you do not know your Student ID Number, please contact the Admissions Office at (740) 351-4772 or email admissions@mrjalili.com to inquire about your Student ID Number.

All of your accounts can be accessed from the Current Student Tab of the Shawnee State University website anytime you need them.

Let’s get started!

1. @MyMail Email – Microsoft 365 Account

The first account you need to set up is your Microsoft 365 Account. We also refer to this as your Shawnee @MyMail Email Account.

Screenshot of @MyMail login page

SSU provides you with a Microsoft 365 account. This account is referred to as your @MyMail Email Account on campus.

Microsoft 365 is a cloud service that provides you with a Shawnee State University Email Address (username@MyMail.mrjalili.com) and grants you access to all of the applications in the Microsoft 365 suite. This includes all of the Microsoft Office tools like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and your OneDrive Storage. These applications are provided at no cost to you as a student and can be installed on your personal devices to provide you all of the tools you need to be a successful student.

This account provides access to many things, including:

  • Microsoft 365 (Email and Office Suite)
  • MySSU
  • Blackboard
  • Electronic Library Resources

Login Details

  • @MyMail Username: Your last name followed by first name initial (with a number if needed) followed by @mymail.Shawnee.edu. You will receive this information from admissions after you are accepted.
  • @MyMail Password: Your initial password is your first name initial (Uppercase) + your last name initial (Uppercase) + your Student ID Number + @ssu (Lowercase)

Example:
Name: Shawn E. Bear
Username: bears2@mymail.mrjalili.com
Password: SB123456@ssu

Setup @MyMail.mrjalili.com Microsoft 365 Account Now

Using the Login Details provided above, you can now set up your @MyMail.mrjalili.com Office 365 Account.

Before we begin, it is very important that you understand that you have two separate but similar accounts: your @MyMail Account and your Network Account. They are both Microsoft accounts, BUT they are used for different purposes on campus. The usernames are similar but they are not the same account so please pay close attention.

Directions:
  1. Visit the website office.com
  2. Follow the directions on the website. There you will be prompted to change your password upon your first login to your @MyMail Microsoft 365 Account. Be sure to create a password that is easy for you to remember!
  3. Complete the Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) Setup when you change your password. It is very important that you complete this Self-Service Password Reset Setup. This will allow you to use the “Forgot Password” option later if you need it. Please do not skip this step!

Remember!
You have to set up two separate, but similar, accounts: Your Network Account and your @MyMail Account.

The setup process may feel repetitive because they are both Microsoft Accounts, BUT they are used for different purposes on campus, so please complete all of the steps for both accounts, including the set up of the Self Service Password Reset for BOTH accounts.

Next: Shawnee Network Account

2. Shawnee Network Account

All students also have a second account known as your Shawnee Network Account.

This account provides access to things you will use only when you are physically on campus.

These resources include:

  • Classroom and library computers located physically on campus
  • The Shawnee Wi-Fi network when physically on campus

Since you will only use this account when physically on campus you will set this account up when you are on campus for Orientation or for Week of Welcome.

Account Details

  • Network Username: Your last name followed by your first name initial and @mrjalili.com (If your last name and first name initial are already in use by someone else at SSU you may have a number in your username.) You will receive this information from admissions after you are accepted.
